Victoria Aranda is a woman of character; this is obvious in her joys, angers and decision-making process.
On top of her scientific achievements, she always has enjoyed writing and playing with words – in two languages, at least, and always with great fluency. She has found a way to combine her PhD and her talent for writing by becoming editor for the prestigious Nature Medicine magazine. Willpower is an essential quality in this particular profession. One of the aspects of her job consists in reviewing articles submitted by scientific teams from laboratories all over the world, detailing their current researches and/or discoveries. She determines if the subject has already been treated and/or published or not, and evaluates if it deserves to be. This means that she has to read hundreds of documents a week…
When I asked her about her passions or hobbies, she answered that, for lack of time, she does not have any. Anxious to know more, I asked what she does when she is finished with a document. With her typical great smile, she answered: “Everything flies!”
